Geotectonic evolution and oil geologic feature of typical petroliferous basins in western South America

  • The main structure is Andes orogenic zone in western South America,by the east, there are 19 retroarc foreland basins longitudinally in Sub-Andean region. The basins are important petroliferous area.As different geotectonic evolution history, the conditions of generation - accumulation -seal assemblage would be diversity, and then oil potential were influenced.By integrating basic geology and petroleum research work, analysing geotectonic area division and basins evolution of this area, comparing main controls to preservation and oil potential of the basins, then the exploration direction has been determined, which will provide reference for strategic exploration areas in our country.
