A method for evaluating residual oil potential of heavy oil reservoirs affected by steam channeling——by taking the middle area of Jinglou oilfield as an example

  • After the reservoir entered the stage of super high cycle steam stimulation, steam channeling upgraded to network area steam channeling, which intensified the complexity of remaining oil occurrence and the difficulty of remaining oil potential evaluation. On the basis of the conventional residual oil potential evaluation method, the parameters such as drainage radius and steam channeling width are determined by reservoir engineering, and the network steam channeling distribution map is drawn, which is combined with the residual oil distribution results of dynamic analysis and reservoir numerical simulation, thus forming a residual oil potential evaluation method with superimposed steam channeling effect. After being applied in the middle area of Jinglou oilfield, three kinds of residual oil distribution patterns are defined and classified, namely, low production and high viscosity area, medium production and high production area, high production and low viscosity area, which provides a basis for formulating the technical strategy for improving oil recovery in ultra–high cycle steam stimulation stage.
