Study on acoustic logging—based rock elasticity parameters

Acoustic logging data is one of the most important and essential parameters in the oilfield exploration and develop- ment.Based on the extraction of information from longitudi- nal and transverse waves,and in connection with density logging,the calculation formula of rock elasticity parameter is derived;and hence the application software of acoustic logging is programmed.The analysis on a well in Shengli oiltield shows that the rock's dynamic mechanics parameters can be determined conveniently and reliably by acoustic log- ging data,which provides a feasible research method to the study on rock characteristics and earth stress field.Moreo- ver,the method also cut off the expensive test cost for elas- tic parameters,so it is of apparent economic signification and practical value.
