The influence of impermeable barrier on reservoir pressure behaviors

Abstract
The influence of the reservoir shape on the dynamic response welbore pressure is evident, while conventional analytical methods can only be used to calculate wellbore pressure response in regularly shaped reservoirs. For this reason, this paper proposes a transient flow mathematical model of arbitrary shaped reservoir with impermeable barrier. By using the boundary element method and Duhamel principle, wellbore pressure with skin effect and wellbore storage is obtained. The type curves are plotted and analyzed considering effects of impermeable barrier. Because the height and length of humping in the type curve reflect the effects of size, shape and orientation of impermeable barrier on pressure transient, the impermeable region can be recognized.
