Hydrocarbon potential evaluation of Kongdian formation in Shannan sag, Bohaiwan basin

  • By referring to the mature experience of developing dark mudstone with good hydrocarbon generation capacity in the Kong 2 member in the Jiyang depression of Shengli oilfield, the hydrocarbon generation capacity of Kongdian formation in Shannan sag of Bohaiwan basin was evaluated and studied. The results indicate the average thickness of Kong 2 member in east sub sag is of 200 m, mainly of dark gray and grayish-black mudstone with thin layers of fine sandstone and siltstone. The seismic phase is characterized by medium-strong amplitude and continuous reflection. The paleo-fossil assemblage is characterized by warm and humid subtropical climate and shallow freshwater lake deposits. The hydrocarbon source rocks in the Kong 2 member of the east sub sag have a high organic matter abundance, good types and better hydrocarbon generation potential.
