Application of CMR and FMI in Evaluation of Carbonate Reservoir

  • Conventional logging interpretation and evaluation of carbonate reservoirs is difficult and inaccurate due to the low porosity, strong anisotropy and heterogeneity.FMI (formation micro imaging)of the MAXIS-500logging tool series can be used to directly recognize formation fractures, determine the development states of fractures and acquire information on the formations and structures near borehole;while CMR(combinable magnetic resonance)can be applied to acquire information on actual porosity and pore structures. The type of reservoir space can be determined with the two new logging methods integrated together to more accurately and directly evaluate carbonate reservoirs.A case of application in Huabei oilfield is presented in this paper.
