3D model design and realization of typical ichnofacies and trace fossils

  • At present, the 3D visible modeling technology has been widely applied to the research of various subjects, and ichnology is no exception. Based on the characteristic analysis of ichnofossils and ichnofacies, by making use of 3ds max (3D modeling software) techniques, this paper separately carries out the 3D simulation to 4 typical ichnofacies and 12 types of trace fossils, and takes Diplocrateri-on as an example to produce the flow chart of trace fossils modeling and the final rendering figures. This work will provide not only a new perspective and method for the future study of ichnology theory and application, but also high - tech means for future research of ichnofabric on oil gas reservoir porosity and permeability.
