A study of complex fault blocks in western part of Jin-glou-Gucheng area and its exploration potentials

  • Based on analysis of preservation and distribution of exploration targets and hydrocarbon accumulation conditions such as oil sources, structures, traps and reservoirs in the western part of Jinglou - Gucheng sag in Biyang depression, new 3D seismic data are integrated with other geologic data to interpret and study in detail the complex block structures in this area. Eighteen fault nose and fault block traps with a total trapping area of 6. 74 km2 have been discovered. Exploration potential analysis of the i-dentified traps shows that the total trapped petroleum resources might be up to 15 million tons. It is concluded that this area is a major area for future exploration in Biyang depression.
