Application of FMI imaging logging in carbonate rock fracture and fault research

  • FMI imaging logging plays an important role in carbonate rock fracture and fault research, through summarizing imaging logging characteristics of Yingshan formation in Ordovician carbonate reservoir of Tarim basin,FMI imaging logging is believed to identify natural fractures and induced fractures. The natural fractures include high dip-angle,mid-low dip-angle,conjugated,and map cracking fractures caused by structural reasons and non-structural suture line.Besides,it can also identify fracture fissure fillings from natural fractures, such as calcite, clay, organic matter and etc.Meantime,it can obtain fracture parameters, orientation, tendency and dip angles.By stratigraphic characteristics repetition, combined with core and seismic tectonic interpretation results to identify the upper and lower wall occurrence and the characteristics of the fault fracture zone, and describe faults in detail.FMI imaging logging is of great significance for comprehensive evaluation of fractured reservoir and fault research in the field of carbonate exploration.
