A Study on Earth Stress in Baolang Oilfield in Yanqi Ba- sin

Earth stress measurements are performed on 4 groups of rock samples from 3 wells in Baozhong and Bao-bei blocks. The earth stress and the maximum main stress direction in Baolang oilfield are calculated and analyzed. A comparison of the rock mechanics experiment results and the real measurement results shows that the caving direction of drill hole coincides with the minimum horizontal main stress. The maximum horizontal main stress in Baozhong block is approximately NE60° ± 5°, while that in Baobei block is approximately NE50° ± 10°.
