Factors Affecting Static Pressure Testing

  • Formation pressure build-up curves and static pressure values are the main static tesling results. Highmonitoring sensitivity of the instrumentspccurate calculatedacoustic velocity and precise reservoir and pump intakedata and producing fluid level are the prerequisites to abtaining reliablc formation fressure build-up curves andstatic pressure va1ues. Some factors, including intensity ofwater injection, formation characteristics, fluid properties, interwell interference and wellbore structure can change the forms of pressure build-up curves. The static pressure values achieved in successive testing time intervals in thesame well vary greatly as water absorbing capacity of injectors and oil offtake of producers change. Staticpressure values would be higher if there exist foreign fluids during fluid level restoration.
