Calculation of Passing Capacity of Lift Pump in Highly Deviated Wells

  • The key issue that need consideration when selecting artificial lift mode is whether downhole lift pump can pass through deflecting interval in highly deviated wells or horizontal wells. Well intervals where lift pumps can be located in highly deviated wells include vertical interval, deflecting interval, angle maintaining interval and branch rat hole. This paper introduces the e-valuation criteria and calculation methods of passing a-bility of lift pump in highly deviated wells and horizontal wells. Taking electric immersible centrifugal pump as an example, passing capacity at different dog leg degree are calculated. Field application show that this method is feasible.
