Recoverability of Coal-seam Gas in Coal-bearing Areas in the West of Henan Province

Main geologic factors that influence recoverability of coal-seam gas include coal-bed permeability, reservoir pressure, gas saturation and desorption rate. Permeability of coal bed is one of the critical factors involving coal bed structure and development of cleating. The coalfields in the west of Henan province are evaluated and sorted based on analysis of all the geologic factors. The Pingdingshan coalfield, with well preserved coal bed structure and well developed cleating, is believed to have high recoverability of coal-seam gas and is a favorable area for future pilot development.
