Development and Application of Spiral Seals in Centrifugal Pumps

Axial seals in centrifugal pumps of 80Y-60,80Y- 100XZ and IS 100 - 65 - 250 types have disadvantagesof leaking, service life being short and needing largeamounts of cooling water. Spiral seals are developed tosolve these problems. Parameters that influence thefunctions of spiral seals are derived through theoreticalstudy, the changing regularity of the spiral structuralparameters and sealing capacity are found throughlaboratory experiments, and spiral seals that suitable foruse in centrifugal pumps of 80Y-60, 80Y- 100XZ andIS 100- 65- 250 types are designed and rnanufactured.Field application of the spiral seal is very successful.They are worthy of deployment in pumps for use ingathering systems.
