Geochemical characteristics and environmental significance of Shanpoling subgroup Wumishan formation in northern Hebei depression

  • In this paper represented by Wumishan formation Shan-poling subgroup,36 samples were analyzed with correlation coefficient, collected from seventh and eighth section cross plane of Wumishan formation Shanpoling subgroup. These samples cover 4 kinds of lithology and three kinds of sedi-mentary microfacies types in the study area, offering a better understanding of the geochemistry feature and environmental significance of Mesoproterozoic carbonate rocks strata. Based on the samples testing results, the correlation is dis-cussed,such as the relation between oxide content,as wellas oxides and trace elements in the carbonate system. Al2O3and K2O,Fe2O3,TiO2 are positively related; P2O5 andK2O,Al2O3 ,are positively correlation, and being weak neg-ative related with SiO2;Na2O O and MgO are in a negativecorrelation, showing weak positive correlation with Sr,Ba,and showed a obsolete positive correlation with Ca; Ba andAl2O3,Fe2O3,K2O,MnO2,P2O5,TiO2 was a positivecorrelation; between CaO and Sr only with a positive correla-tion; MnO and Fe2O3,Al2O3,K2O was a positive correla-tion. After relationship analysis between various elements and sedimentary environment, particularly through interpretation of the abnormal phenomena from supralittoral zone tosubtidal zone: Ca/Mg values,Sr content (Sr/Ca) chan-ges,which reflects the special geochemical characteristics of the carbonate rocks in this study area.
