Deepening Geologic Understanding and Opening up New Petroleum Exploration Areas in Biyang Depression

Carbonate of lake facies is a weak field of sedi-mentological research both at home and abroad.Re-search on hydrocarbon generation,petroleum distribution,reservoir and resources in carbonate of lake facies lag severely behind.Study on carbonate of lake facies in Biyang depression enriched knowledge of the depression,identified new source rock of carbonate type,revealed unconventional petroleum sources,and widened oil and gas exploration field.Secondary hydrocarbon generation of the fixed organic matters in carbonate of lake facies from late of mature stage to post mature stage was an-other important sources of oil and gas in th e deep se-ries of strata.The depression was the hydrocarbon gen-eration center and had favorable coincidence conditions of source rock,reservoir and seal.The Dacangfang For-mation in Paleogene is a new target of exploration.Pro-posals are put forward to emphasize study on turbidite of lake facies and turbidite fan sandbody reservoirs.
